iJOIN project is mentioned as case study in “Cloud RAN 2015: Enabling NFV in Mobile Networks” report. This report provides detailed cost/benefit analysis for Centralized and Cloud RAN architectures, as well as clear analysis of steps toward NFV deployment in RAN networks.

RAS is a cluster activity comprising a portfolio of more than 20 research projects participating in the 7th Framework Program and investigating Radio Access and Spectrum aspects of future wireless networks.

iJOIN will take part to IWCPM 2015: the second international workshop on cloud-processing in heterogeneous mobile communication networks.
The workshop will be held in conjunction with IEEE ICC 2015, 8/12 June 2015, London, UK.

Professor Arturo Azcorra, a pioneer of internet and network science research in Spain, has been elected member of the Partnership Board of the 5G Infrastructure Association. This body provides European-wide leadership in the design of next-generation advanced communication systems. iJOIN was present at EuCNC 2014 with an Exhibition booth from 23 to 26 June 2014 in Bologna, Italy. iJOIN  showed two demos: an SDN-based Mobility Solution and a Cloud-based Turbodecoder.

We are witnessing an exponential increase of wireless traffic demand due to the worldwide proliferation of mobile Internet applications. It is forecasted that, by 2020, the network infrastructure will be capable of embracing trillions of devices according to a plethora of application-specific requirements in a flexible and truly mobile way. One key to addressing this technological challenge is effective communication between the different parties involved in the networking field. As part of its leading role in the concerted European effort on 5G research, IMDEA Networks aims to facilitate this networking process with its Sixth Annual International Workshop on the 5G Network Revolution, to be held on June 11 at University Carlos III of Madrid (Spain).
